Statement of Work
Locomotive Repair /
Decoder Installation
The intent of this document
is to provide a guideline enabling the end user to estimate the cost of work requested
to be performed on locomotives. Although
the scope of the work will vary as a result of locomotive specifics such as
scale and condition as well as decoder specifics such as sound or non-sound,
the actual work performed remains the same.
Cost of
work performed, specific to locomotive type;
- The
cost of work is based upon a worse case estimate of the time spent on each
individual locomotive based on an average of $15.00 per hour. The cost does not include any materiel
used/required for the work.
- Diesel
sound decoder installation minimum charge is $45.00.
- Diesel
non-sound decoder installation minimum charge is $30.00.
- Steam
sound decoder installation minimum charge is $75.00.
- Steam
non-sound decoder installation minimum charge is $50.00.
The work completed
will be as listed below;
- Analogue
DC functional verification of the locomotive before decoder installation.
- As
required a disassembly, cleaning, reassembly of the locomotive.
- As
required a replacement of the motor with a decoder compatible motor.
- Machine
frame to allow decoder and speaker to be mounted in locomotive.
- Analogue
DC functional verification of the locomotive after reassembly.
- Installation
of LED headlights, front and rear, with four wire plug connector between steam locomotive
and tender.
- Rewire
locomotive (and tender if applicable) for left rail and right rail power pickup
at as many axles as feasible.
- Additional
minor repair work as required/requested by owner at $15.00 per hour.
- A
Loksound v3.5 decoder and Loksound #50447 dual speaker will be used for all
sound decoder installations unless specified otherwise.
- A
Train Controls Systems TCST1 or TCSM1 decoder will be used for all non-sound
decoder installations unless specified otherwise.
- The
locomotive decoder address will be set at '03' unless specified otherwise by
the owner.
- The
locomotive decoder will set to function on both DCC and DC.
- Unless
specified otherwise the decoder ‘functions’ will be set as ‘F0=Headlights
On/Off’, ‘F1=Bell On/Off’, ‘F2=Horn On/Off’, ‘F6=Switching Speed On/Off’, and
‘F8=Sound On/Off’.
- Functional
verification of the locomotive is confirmed with a minimum of ten minutes of
operation on both DCC and DC track power.
I reserve the right to reassess my
charges and the scope of the work involved after I have 'hands on' contact with
the locomotive of issue.
