Planning Meetings, Camps and Workshops #1

Sept. 10/01:  Canoe Workshop at Steenstra's Pit.  1/2 hour talk and demo session, 1&1/2 hours on water and in water (canoe over canoe rescue)
Sept. 11/01:  Registration, Group Committee Meeting
Sept. 17/01:  Meeting: opening, dues, game, welcome to scouting & intro, open discussion on how scouting works at troop level, plans for upcoming scouting year, game, getting ready for Regional Camp, game, closing.
Sept. 24/01:  Meeting: Opening, dues, game, setting up patrols, Patrol meeting, election of officers, getting ready for Regional Camp, Youth rep. determined, game, closing.
Sept. 28,29,& 30/01:  Atironta Regional Camp Family Paradise.
Oct. 1/01:  meeting cancelled, no scouts.
Oct. 8/01:  meeting cancelled, Thanksgiving.
Oct. 9/01:  All Leaders Meeting, Youth Forum Meeting.
Oct. 13/01:  Apple Day
Oct. 15/01:  Meeting:  opening, dues, game, group discussion & organization for District Camp, shelters discussed, Kim & backup Kim determined, Youth Rep Stand-in determined, badge work, closing.
Oct. 19, 20,& 20/01:  Huron District Camp Union Marsh Camp.  Jotta, BP type camp, youth helping train, scavenger hunt, Scouter Jim as a Resource axe & saw person.
Oct. 22/01:  Meeting: opening, dues, game, Patrol meeting, badge work, Court of Honour meeting, game, closing.
Oct. 28/01:  Leaders Meeting to organize Court of Honour requests.
Oct. 29/01:  Investiture (parents invited), game, group discussed Halloween Party story plans (youth rotating & scout youth will do story), closing.
Oct. 30/01:  Halloween Party: LINKING with Cubs and Beavers.
Nov. 5/01:  Meeting: opening, dues, popcorn money handed in, game, Patrol meeting, badge work (senior scouts teach & demonstrate flag break and etiquette to 1st year youth), game & Court of Honour meeting, closing.
Nov. 11/01:  Remembrance Day Parade LINKING with Cubs and Beavers. Park garbage sweep before parade & after for environmental project purposes & COMMUNITY SERVICE, clearing & marking trails at Klopp Park (COMMUNITY SERVICE)
Nov. 12/01:  Meeting:  opening, dues, 1st yr. scouts run catch volleyball game, group discussion about where popcorn and cheese money is going (stoves, tarp, tripping tarp, trailer repairs, canoe repairs), discuss upcoming Survivor Camp#2 (new ideas for challenges, food in tribes, pick tribes), Kira and Laura presentation about winter camp clothing, Justin and Brian survival kit demo, closing.

Nov. 30, Dec. 1 &2/01:  Survivor Camp #2 (new challenges, new location, new year)
Senior scout invited Legion member as a guest speaker (date to set).

Nov. 19/01:  Meeting:  opening, dues, leaders' game: bump basketball, discuss upcoming Carolling at Bluewater Rest Home, Woodbadge 1, and Youth Focus, tribes set up menus, practised lashings, Mark and Billy presentation on winter sleeping equipment, Billy is troop rep. for District Winter Camp meeting and has troop ideas for camp, closing.  Court of Honour meeting (held after reg. meeting)
Nov. 21/01:  Huron District Winter Camp Planning meeting.
Nov. 23-25/01:  Woodbadge1 Training:  SIT Dan & SIT Steven, Youth Focus Camp: 7 youth attended.
Nov. 26/01:  Meeting:  opening, dues, 3rd & 4th yr. scouts game: flags, Invest Stewart, discuss Youth Focus and Woodbadge 1, work out Survivor Camp#2 sleeping arrangements (tent or tarp optional), work on menus, names for tribes?, badge work, announcements, closing.  Guest: Scouter Francis
Nov. 30-Dec.2/01:  Survivor Camp#2:  Attawandaron Scout Camp, Tarp or tent opt., Quiz Challenge, Tractor Tire Obstacle Course, Log Standing, Tribe Name, Cheer and Flags, Food Challenge, Shared Scouts' Own.
Dec. 3/01:  Meeting:  opening, dues, 2nd yr. scout run game, discuss survivor camp, Billy to discuss District Winter Camp, badge work, Court of Honour members discuss what went on in their meeting, closing.
Dec. 10/01:  Meeting:  opening, dues, outside games, badge work, was to be bag candy night: cancelled due to candy not in, announcements, closing.  (3rd & 4th yr. scouts working on on going mug making project.)
Dec. 12/01:  Carolling at Blue water Rest Home:  linking with cubs and beavers.
Dec. 14-15/01: Bowling, Bag Candy for Santa, and Movie and Board Game All-Nighter.
Dec. 17/01:  Meeting:  night hike (giving and finding directions around town, the importance of good directions), Bill Mason's canoeing fast water movie and discussion.
Jan. 7/02:  Meeting:  opening, dues, knots, leader's game: knot relay, District winter camp: 1st yr. pick out song with actions, 2nd yr. song, 3rd & 4th yr. skit and leaders cheer. (research for next week), Billy gave demo and talk on hypothermia, badge work, closing.  Check out trailer after meeting.
Jan. 12/02:  Scouter's Bill and Janice meet Scouter Lavern in Ailsa Craig to set up orienteering course for District camp.
Jan. 14/02:  Meeting:  opening, dues, 3rd & 4th yr. scouts run 3 touch tag game,  three to five 1st yr. scouts volunteer to attend Beaver meeting and set up tents and talk about camping (scouter Hub attending), songs and skit worked on in patrols, patrol meals for camp discussed and refined, run down on camp and preparations, discuss Pitch-in-Canada and JOTT, badge work, closing.
Jan. 16/02:  Tent demo for Beavers:  Phillip, Nick and Alec (linking)
Jan. 21/02:  Meeting:  opening, dues, 2nd yr. scouts run road hockey game, compass work and game, badge work, Mark talks on heat stroke to 1st yr. scouts, announcements, closing.  Court of Honour Meeting after reg. meeting
Jan. 24/02:  Zurich Group Committee Meeting
Jan. 25.-27/02: Huron District Winter Camp:  Orienteering course, tree id, movie, indoor campfire (sharing of new songs), Capture the Gold, Sweat lodge, tobogganing, Scout's Own.
Feb. 4/02:  Tanya to attend Huron District Meeting.

Feb. 17/02:  Church Parade St. Boniface Church
Feb. 18/02:  Paddle making
Feb. 23-24/02:  Mystery Camp!  Toronto:  Science Centre,  Woodland Trails Scout Camp (overnight, tenting), Outdoor Adventure Show.
Mar. 4/02:  Meeting:  Opening, Senior Scouts game, review Mystery Camp, planning for rope bridge camp, badge work (2nd yr. maps)
Mar. 6/02:  All Leaders Meeting Planning for Spring District Camp
Mar. 8-10/02:  Rope Bridge Camp  Cubs linking on Mar. 9, Youth (scouts and cubs) to build bridge with leadership team, fun on bridge, cook egg on a fire, no match fire, cut & remove grape vines off trees (environmental badge), scouts own (2nd yr.), individual meals.  Mar. 9th evening and Mar. 10/02 cancelled due to extreme high winds, camped indoors at Scouters Janice and Bill's.

Mar. 18/02:  Opening, 2nd yr. patrol game: soccer, review rope bridge camp,  selection of 2 activities for District camp, badge work.

Mar. 25/02:  Meeting  Opening, Steven Prang to receive woggle for Part 1 (Congratulations!), Talk on teasing, respect (for yourself and others), and body language, review of our Scout Law, 1st yr. patrol game, badge work.
Apr. 6/02:  Huron District Honours and Awards
Apr. 8/02: Meeting  Opening, Leader game: crab soccer, relay game (campsite set-up), Billy's guest's Mary and Peter to talk about their mission work, plan for Triathlon Camp, plan for Pitch-in-Canada, Jott Canada planning
Apr. 15/02:  Meeting  Sixer cubs and Scouter Doug visiting, Opening, intro game, Mark's guest Constable Don to talk about his job and drugs, Senior scouts game, badge work
Apr. 22/02:  Pitch-in-Canada  Sixer cubs and Scouter Lisa visiting, clean up garbage at Klopp Property, brought stove for hot chocolate, talk about upcoming camp
Apr. 25/02:  Huron District Spring Camp Planning Meeting, Troop.
Apr. 26-28/02:  Triathlon Camp  Camp at Scouter Stew's (from Grand Bend), hike (2 hours) to canoe Ausable River (4 hours), bike (cancer ride) (11/2 hours), 2nd yr. Scouts own, 1st yr. scouts formal campfire.
May 2/02:  Group Committee Meeting
May 6/02:  Meeting  Opening, 2nd year patrols game, Canoe badge work (stations set-up),  Sixer cubs and Scouter Lee guests, talk about Jott, present Tanya and Patrick with their Chief Scout Awards, Congratulations!
May 11/02:  Jott  6 hour hike, Maitland Trail (little Lakes to Jackson's Gravel Pit and visa versa, switch vehicles)
May 13/02:  Canoeing   the pond at Martin's farm, Talk about District camp
May 21/02:  Motoplex clean-up (fund raiser)
May 24-26/02:  Huron District Spring Camp:  Survivor Camp; 25 km. hike for youth qualifying for their Chief Scout Award, survivor games, wide game, campfire, scout's own
June 3/02:  Canoeing  The pond at Martin's farm,  talk about horseback riding
June 9/02:  Horseback Riding  Ailsa Craig; Camp Craig horseback riding and archery, Lion's Park, compass activity course.
June 10/02:  Advancement Ceremony  Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts, parents and friends invited.
