Senior Canoe Trip Log, 2001

Today is Friday April 20, 2001. When I arrived at Scouter Bill and Scouter Janice's place, Francis was there and we got our stuff down in the basement where we slept. After everyone else arrived we went over a checklist to make sure we brought everything and then we watched "Days of Thunder". Before the movie we celebrated my birthday with a cake. After the movie we went down to sleep, but there was one problem, Patrick wouldn't shut up so I just shut my eyes and finally went to sleep.

The next morning, Saturday April 21,2001 at5:30 we woke up and had breakfast and about 6:30 we packed our stuff in the trailer and were on our way, this is when Scouter Janice's word of the day came in and today's word is "Shut up"! After hours of driving and playing games in the car Francis and Cameron got bored and started singing and finally we stopped to get lunch. After about an hour or so we got to our destination and unpacked, this is when we had more cake. After everything was in the canoe by the lake, Scouter Bill and Scouter Mark shuttled the van to our last destination of the canoe trip. While they were doing that us scouts went over the strokes and when Scouter Bill and Scouter Mark got back we were off, which was about 1:00pm. After what was minutes we got to our first portage. We all took two trips to get our stuff over. After everyone was at the other side we started canoeing again. At about 3:00pm. we got to our campsite. We all got our tents up in the rain and as we got started on our supper it stopped raining which was the last we saw on our trip. Everyone had an early bed.

Morning of Sunday April 22, 2001 we got up and had breakfast and as Scouter Janice was thinking of the word of the day, Scouter Dan spilled their water that was done boiling, this is when Scouter Janice came up with the word "Hello" as the word of the day. (This was not as a result of Scouter Dan spilling the water) After we packed up, we started our days canoeing. Along the way our leader, Roberta, did the directions and told us where to go. After a few portages and some canoeing we got to our campsite about 5:00pm. unpacked and had supper.

Morning of Monday April 23, 2001 our last day, we did the usual routine for morning and started paddling our last stretch of water before the end. On Sunday we did a "Scout's Own" by the shrine and it was the perfect spot to sit down and relax. Near the end of the stretch of water we had difficulty finding the parking lot, but finally with a little help from the leaders we found it. Also the word of the day is "Great". After getting our stuff out of the water and in the trailer we were off to go home. In the car, our amusement was games and Cameron and Francis' singing all the way home. After we dropped off Scouter Dan, Scouter Gerry, Cameron, and Francis I finally got home and unpacked most of my stuff, then had a shower, and went straight to bed.

All in all with the poor weather on Saturday and the fun we had we all enjoyed the trip and remember all the good and bad times. One bad time is Francis and Cameron's singing.
