How do I set up my TCC or EZlink email on my mobile device?

How to Set Up Your TCC Email on iPhone

  1. Click the mailbox at the bottom of your screen. 
  2. Click add account. 
  3. Click other. 
  4. Fill in your name, email address and password and click next. 
  5. Click IMAP 
  6. Fill out the incoming mail server 
    Host Name = mail.tcc.on.ca 
    User Name = (beginning of your email address ie: customer@tcc.on.ca, username = customer) 
    Password 
  7. Fill out the outgoing mail server
    Host Name = smtp.tcc.on.ca
    User Name = (beginning of your email address ie: customer@tcc.on.ca, username = customer)
    Password 
  8. Click Next 
  9. Go into Settings > Mail/Contacts & Calendars 
  10. Click your TCC account.  Scroll to the bottom. 
  11. Click Advanced Settings. 
  12. Incoming Mail Server: Security: TLS (Recommended)/SSL   Port 993 
  13. Outgoing Mail Server: Security: STARTTLS (Recommended)/TLS/SSL    Port 587 
  14. Outgoing mail requires authentication 
  15. Click Done. 

How do I call 911 from my Mobile phone?

Like regular 911, E911 gives you the ability to contact emergency services from your cellular device. When you dial 9-1-1 on your Tuckersmith Communications cellular device, your call is routed to the 9-1-1 emergency operator for your area. 

There are two phases of Enhanced 9-1-1 (E9-1-1) service. Phase one provides 9-1-1 operators with your cellular number, area code and approximate location. The operator will know the location of the cellular tower handling your call. Phase one is currently available in most areas with 9-1-1 service. 

Phase two allows for 9-1-1 operators to more accurately locate a phase two-ready mobile device. E9-1-1 phase two service is available in most coverage areas in Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia. Tuckersmith Communications provides cellular devices that operate on Canada’s largest LTE network. 

Check your local telephone book for emergency services telephone numbers. You can also contact local emergency operators to find out about the availability of 9-1-1 services in your area. Do not dial 9-1-1 for this information.

Tips When Calling E9-1-1 From Your Cell Phone

  • Always give the operator the cellular number you're calling from, including area code, in case you're in an area that is not equipped with wireless E9-1-1 
  • Tell the operator your location or location of the emergency 
  • Stay on the line with the operator (customers are not billed for airtime for 9-1-1 calls) 
  • Do not hang up until told to do so and leave your phone turned on after hanging up in case the operator needs to call you back 
  • Do not program 9-1-1 on your cell phone to help reduce the chance of unintended accidental calls to 9-1-1 service 
  • 9-1-1 can be dialed from a locked phone 
  • A phone does not need to have an active account to allow 9-1-1 calls. It only needs to be charged 

Are there any tips to improve my Mobile battery life?

  1. View which apps in your settings are draining your battery, choose to turn on any apps that are causing a shortened battery life.
  2. Turn your Bluetooth and Wi-Fi off when not in use through your settings, these continuously drain the battery looking for signals and connections.
  3. Lower your screen brightness, some smartphones may have an auto feature which adjusts your brightness according to the amount of lighting around you. This will help conserve battery life.
  4. Close applications that were previously opened. Apps will consume battery power in the background as long as they are open.

International Cellular Roaming

Travel Outside of Canada with Your Cell Phone 

Many of our customers regularly cross the border to the U.S.A or go on week vacations to various countries all over the world and want to bring their cell phone along with them. We provide competitive roaming rates but there are a few key steps that need to be taken before you leave: 

  1. Visit our website, call or come in to view all roaming packages. These rates differ depending on where you are travelling. 
  2. If a DATA package is not purchased, you need to ensure your Data Roaming is turned off on your device.
    iPhone: go into settings > cellular > turn data roaming off. 
    Android: go into settings > fine mobile networks > turn data roaming off. 
    BlackBerry: go into settings > network connections > mobile networks > data services while roaming: off.
  3. iPhone users: You also want to turn off your iMessage if you do not have a data pass. iMessage uses data so if you are trying to send an iMessage from abroad it will not go through until you have data services again. You want to send as a ?regular text? by following these steps: Go into settings > Messages > turn iMessage off

Accessing Your Voicemail

The first time you access your voicemail box you will be asked to set up your mailbox and record your name and a greeting to be played by callers. When you have one or more unheard voice messages waiting, your phone will display a solid red light on the top of the phone.

From your own phone:

  • Press the Messages button or dial *98. 
  • Enter your voicemail password. 
  • If you have new messages, the messages will be identified.

After hearing any new messages, you will be presented with the Voicemail Main Menu.

From another phone:

  • From an external phone either: 
    1. Dial the voicemail access number: 519-263-1234 OR, 

    2. Dial your main telephone number and press * 
  • When prompted, enter your 10 digit number. 
  • When prompted, enter your voice mail password + #. 
  • If you have new messages, the messages will be identified.

After hearing any new messages, you will be presented with the Voicemail Main Menu.
